Important MeasuresMeasures I & J On June 5th, local voters will be asked to vote on Measures I & J. These tax measures, $85 for the elementary district and $38 for the high school district, will replace measures A & B, which expire June 30, 2013. Ballot language will commit funds to the priorities funded by the current measures: retaining high quality teachers, retaining art and music teachers in our elementary schools, providing academic counseling to prepare students for college and help at-risk students stay on the right track, and keeping our school libraries open and served by certificated librarians. All of the dollars raised will stay in local schools. It will take a 2/3 majority to pass these measures. If they do not pass, the district will lose about 2.5 million dollars in revenues and programs in 2013-14.
